"If we went any slower, we would be going backwards."
I have heard this a couple of times but the latest was last night during a play. I am not sure what to make of this. Statements like this usually make me a little uncomfortable because there is so much anger, longing and stupidity all rolled into one.
It makes me realise the insane human ability to settle. We all want that perfect, crazy fairy-tale. We want to be loved, in a I-can't-live-without-you way. We enjoy the attention, we crave for recognition. Then how do we get from all that to a point of mere compromise?
I have decided. Despite all my moments of falling into almost-love, I ain't settling. Not until I find my fairy-tale.
If we went any slower, we wouldnt go backwards at all. It is always to pause and get a view of the bigger picture ahead and then proceed.. moving forward without a sense of where we are proceeding, will not lead us anywhere.. nice post :)
ReplyDeleteseriously, that how u felt? :P
ReplyDeleteI am reminded of this old Vidya Sinha / Rajesh Khanna movie (Karm?) that has two versions of the song "Samay tu Dheere Dheere Chal", and "Samay tu Jaldi Jaldi Chal" (Can you guess how old I am? ;-)

Reminds me of a Thoreau quote a friend emailed me some years ago: If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them. Just remember: Fairy-tale-someone does not necessarily have to be found; it can also be CREATED.
